A child who is both under age 9, and shorter than 4 feet 9 inches, is required by law to be fastened in a child safety seat or booster seat that meets federal safety standards. In Minnesota, three out of four child seats are used incorrectly. Le Sueur County Public Health provides free car seat inspections. A Public Health Nurse is available to answer questions regarding best practices of child passenger safety.
More information can be found at Car Seats Made Simple and the Office of Traffic Safety.
