What Happens at a WIC Appointment?

WIC appointments happen every 3 months you are eligible for the program. In most cases, you will alternate between an in-office visit and a phone appointment.

At in-person appointments you may expect

  • You or your child’s weight and height to be taken.
  • You or your child’s hemoglobin to be checked. This often happens at the first pregnancy and postpartum visit for women, and 9 month, 18 month and yearly visits for children.
  • To be asked questions about your or your child’s eating habits, drinking habits and food-related milestones.
  • Nutrition education to be given as needed and desired.
  • Community resources to be provided as needed and desired.
  • A follow up appointment to be created as needed and desired.
