Adult Mental Health Services
The Behavioral Health Unit has many services available to eligible citizens of our county who are experiencing mental health symptoms.
Services include:
- Psychological and psychiatric services
- Case management
- Skills supports (Community Support Technicians or ARMHS)
- Recreational therapeutic groups and activities (Clubhouse)
- Vocational supports
- Crisis intervention
I am having a mental health crisis. What should I do?
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, there are a variety of services available to you, please contact us. For a crisis during business hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), please call our main line at 507-357-8288 and ask to speak with a Mental Health Intake Worker.
After business hours, you have a choice to either call the on call Social Worker through the Sheriff's Department at 507-357-4440 or you may call the regional crisis/warm line through the Horizon Homes Crisis Center by calling 877-399-3040.
Mobile Crisis Services
- Service to provide support for children, teens, and adults experiencing a mental health crisis
- Can be completed via telehealth or in-person at home, at school, or at any other community location that the client chooses.
- Includes a Crisis Assessment, Risk Assessment, and Treatment Plan focusing on:
- Problem solving and coping strategies
- Resources and information to local services
- Crisis Prevention
- Brief ongoing support through stabilization
- Support offered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- 100% voluntary service
- Services are offered in English and in other languages through Language Line Solutions
- Grant funding is available for Mobile Services if insurance does not cover
South Central Crisis Center
- Provide support for adults with mental health needs
- 16-bed, short-term crisis unit
- Stays range from a few hours and up to 10 days
- Admissions accepted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- 100% voluntary service
- Services include:
- Short-term problem solving and counseling
- Medication education and monitoring
- Symptom management and relapse prevention
- Family education and support
- Stabilization after discharge
- Services are offered in English and in other languages through Language Line Solutions
