In 2016 the Cannon River Watershed was selected to receive state funds to develop a One Watershed One Plan. The partnership of this plan includes: Le Sueur, Waseca, Rice, Steele, Goodhue, Dakota SWCDs and Counties along with the Belle Creek Watershed District and North Cannon River Watershed Management Organization. The partnership with all local government units within the planning boundary is called the Cannon River Watershed Joint Powers Organization.
The Cannon River Watershed comprises of 952,933 acres. The resources across the watershed are diverse and provide numerous land use activities/opportunities.
